Happy NEW YEAR!! I hope you all had a fantastic New Year’s Eve! I cannot believe that we have entered a new decade and 2020 has arrived!! I’ve been thinking about my new 2020 goals for a few weeks now, but also want to take a look at last year’s goals and see where I’m at. So, here we go!
My goals from my 2019 Goals blog post were broken up into personal and professional, and I liked that layout, so we are going to keep up with that!
Last Year’s (2019) Goals + Progress:
Personal Goals
- Become more MINIMALISTIC – Get organized by decluttering, keeping only what I need, and tossing or giving away what I do not. I want to reorganize my beauty room/office to be more functional and more of a space that I can work in. I also want to go through all of my clothes and sell or donate what I do not need. If you’ve read the konmari method, it is super helpful with decluttering. It teaches you only to keep things that bring you joy.
- I have definitely learned to be more minimal over the past year. Even in the past week, we’ve been organizing and decluttering even more. It’s a tough thing to do when PR packages arrive and you need to purchase things to review, but I’ve learned to let go of the things that I don’t need. We’ve donated a ton of stuff this year and will continue doing so in 2020.
- Be More Frugal – I think we are pretty frugal already, however we have some big trips coming up that we are saving for, along with old debts that are needing to be paid off. We also have a lot of house projects planned for the new year! Going along with my first goal, I want to think about my purchases before jumping on them!
- We were definitely frugal this year, but with all of the trips, we didn’t save near as much as we wanted to or pay off much debt. We’ve already set up a plan and a budget for 2020 and hope to knock down some of our debt and continue saving money.
- Spend Less Time on my Phone + Be PRESENT (this is also a professional goal) – This mainly means avoiding Facebook – I notice that this becomes a big time sucker, so I want to focus on what is important while on my phone. It is important for me to respond to my followers and engage with others on social media, so I need to avoid getting stuck scrolling endlessly and FOCUS.
- I think I failed on this front- within the last few months I’ve been on social media less, but when it’s part of your “full-time” side gig- it makes it very hard.
- Date night once a month – my husband and I had a goal toward the end of 2018 to do date night once a month and we failed at that! We want to do at least one date night a month outside of our home so we can spend more time together!
- We did a great job of date nights every month and hope to continue into 2020!
- Be more active – I’ve had a gym membership for a while now and have not been taking advantage of it. Even if I’m walking the dogs or doing an at-home workout, I want to be more active in the new year!
- I was NOT active AT ALL until the end of Summer… then I finally got back into it with going to Peter Kraus Fitness twice a week! I’ve also been taking advantage of my gym membership…finally!
- Self-Care – I need to make time for ME. Self-care is so important too! I love getting facials and spending time with friends. I also love a great pedicure! I want to focus on me-time throughout the new year!
- I don’t think I did this enough in 2019. I want to focus on my intentions and why I need self-care. I don’t want to wait until I force myself to do it.
Professional Goals
- Be More Punctual (this is also a personal goal) – notice how in 2018 I said “work on becoming more punctual”, well the “work on” part is basically me saying I’ll MAYBE do it, so this year a goal is to BE MORE PUNCTUAL. I just read an article about how people who are always late are smarter and live longer…and as much as I want to just say that’s how life is going to be, it’s still a goal of mine that I need to work on.
- I believe I did better at this in 2019, but still have some growing to do.
- Plan Ahead/Time Management/Batching – do not overbook myself. As I said before, I tend to overbook myself. This year I want to plan ahead with my social channels. I was trying to do 3 blog posts a week throughout the last year and I realized that this is just too much for me to do while having a full time job, another side job, YouTube and the blog, while still trying to love my husband and spend time with family and friends. This year I will be going down to 2 blog posts per week and focus more on quality over quantity. Some weeks may have more or less, but 2 is the goal.
- I loved dropping down to 2 blog posts a week, but with adding the radio, I feel like I added more to my plate. I have been working on planning out posts more in advance, but need to get WAY better in 2020.
- Create partnerships with new brands and network with others in my area – this one speaks for itself! I have been working with our local LOFT over the past few months and got featured on the main LOFT Instagram, which was HUGE for me! I hope to partner with new brands and build long term partnerships over the next year! I also love networking with others, especially other bloggers in the area! I’ve found many new friends, whether online or in person over the past year and I hope to find more in the new year!
- I worked with some amazing new brands and companies in 2019, some that I would have never thought I would be able to partner with! I have a few collabs coming in 2020 with some dream brands as well, so I’m looking forward to it. As for networking with others, I’ve met so many amazing new people this year, especially with my New York trip! I can’t wait to connect with even more in 2020.
- Reach 500 email subscribers + continue growing my following on all platforms.

Okay, so on to my 2020 Goals. I still broke them down into personal and professional goals, although some of them overlap.
My 2020 Goals:
Personal Goals
- Be MINIMALISTIC – Get organized by decluttering, keeping only what I need, and tossing or giving away what I do not. This is the same as last year, but I want to be even more specific. Each month, I want to go through ONE ROOM & declutter and toss/donate/sell what is not needed. Conor and I put together a list and are starting on our bedroom this month! We’ve got this!!
- Stick to a BUDGET, SAVE & Pay Down Debt – Similar to last year’s “be frugal”, Conor and I have set up a Debt Reduction Calculator and figured out what our budget is and how we can save and bring down our debt at the same time! We’re following a few tips from Dave Ramsey as well!
- Date Night Once a Month – I still want to continue this goal! I think it’s very important to take time and spend it with your significant other, whether it be at home or out. One thing I would like to do it try to go someplace new every few months as well!
- Workouts at Least 3x a Week – Whether it be hitting the gym or an at-home workout, a 30 min or more workout 3x a week is my goal. Conor is also adding working out to his goal for the year, so that will be a huge help!
- Self-Care – I love the idea of self-care, but I am also trying to save money. I want to focus on spending more time for myself at home that is not focused on social media/blog/youtube, etc.
- Go to NASHVILLE!!! – this year will have more traveling, but probably not as much as last year. One place I do want to go is Nashville. If you remember in 2018, Conor and I were supposed to go, but we had to cancel due to his work deadlines. We still haven’t been, and we’ve been needing to visit my cousins there, so in 2020, I want to make it happen!
- Read More Books – you know me, I’m more of an audiobook person because I can really focus and get into the books during my commute. I would also like to try reading more actual books as well!
- Keep up with my PLANNER!! This is both personal and professional, since my life is all in one of these! If you need a good planner, I use the Life Planner from Erin Condren! It’s amazing and well-organized, plus it’s currently on sale!
- DAILY GOALS- these are a few of the things I want to do daily and get into a routine:
- Wake up EARLY and make my bed EVERY DAY
- Drink a large glass of water after waking, even before my coffee
- Apple Cider Vinegar weekly (okay not daily but still had to add it)
- Work on meditating more
- Stick to my to do list – I have a daily to-do list that I sit down each week and go over- I change it up as the week progresses, but it helps me stay on track!
- Less screen time at night- Conor and I have been listening to podcasts or calming meditation audiobooks before bed and we’ve been sleeping better and have noticed a difference.
Professional Goals
2020 is going to be ALL about growing my career, the career path I want to take. I am currently a full time Marketing Director for a Property Management Company in Madison, which makes for long weeks and not a lot of time to create! In 2020, I want to focus on my side hustle and grow toward the direction I want to take my career.
- Hire an Intern – this is currently in progress, but once I have one, they should be able to help with all goals following this one!
- Time Management/Punctuality – this goes along the same lines as my first 2 goals from last years professional goals. I want to plan ahead and work on batching. My goal for blog posts is going to be at least ONE post per week and to be at least a week ahead of time for any post that is not time sensitive.
- Focus on Quality Over Quantity – on all social platforms – this means not posting to post, but actually putting time and thought behind each post. I will need to be sure to plan ahead for this to work well.
- Collaborate with other Creators – I’ve collaborated with others in the past, but I would love to continue collaborating and make new connections as well.
- Partner with new brands, while keeping connections with brands I’ve already worked with.
- NYFW Round 2 – NYFW was such an experience and now that I’ve learned what I need to know to make the trip successful, I can’t wait to tackle it this year!
- Reach 1000 email subscribers + continue growing my following on all platforms.
Subscribe to my BLOG//Subscribe to my YouTube channel//Follow me on Instagram//
Follow me on Facebook//Follow me on Twitter - Get creative with my photography and videography – learn more, try new things, and maybe learn how to take a serious photo without looking like I have RBF! haha
- Share more Beauty and Haircare– I focused a bit more on fashion last year and want to gear back towards beauty this year, while still sharing my passion for fashion.
- Become a FULL TIME content creator {for myself} – I went LLC in 2019, but in 2020, I’m ready to be my OWN BOSS! This has been a goal of mine for a while, but this year I would love to see it through. Time to manifest my dreams!
This is for YOU: Thank you
I wanted to give a huge thank you to all of my readers who have been following along on this crazy journey! I know I say it all of the time, but I can’t say thank you enough! Without all of you, my motivation for continuing to share what I love would not be there! Thank you all for your support, comments, shares, likes and so much more! If I could give each and every one of you a hug, I would!! I can’t wait to see what the new year has in store!
What are some of your goals for 2020?
As always, thanks for reading & Happy New Year!
