Skin Care Items I’ve Tried Recently – Part 2: Toners, Micellar Waters, & Serums.

October 30, 2016 Uncategorized

If you haven’t read Part 1 of my Skin Care Items–all about the Masks I’ve been trying– check it out HERE.

Toners:

Dickinson’s Witch Hazel– this stuff is amazing! If you didn’t see my Instagram or Facebook post about it, I raved about this stuff! The cotton swab you see in the photo is after removing my makeup with a makeup wipe and face wash.  This product is very gentle on the skin, but effective!  I noticed a difference in my skin very quickly.  This product is also extremely inexpensive.

I love both of these equally! I have been using them over the past 6+ months and do not have anything bad to say about these.  When I first tried them, I was having major issues with breakouts, and these both helped calm them instantly, without any reactions as with most products during the first month or so.

Boots Botanics Toning Spray:  I am still trying this one out- I broke out from it when I first tried it, but need to give it at least 30 days before I can give my full review.  I love the smell of it, and it makes my skin feel refreshed after spraying it on.  I use it just after washing my face and before any moisturizers.

Urban Decay B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray– this product is to be used before putting primer and makeup on.  It it supposed to reduce redness, minimize pores and absorbs oil.  I don’t notice much of a difference by using this, so I most likely won’t be repurchasing.  I do love the smell though 😉 .

Micellar Waters

Everyone has been raving about Micellar Water and I just can’t seem to fall in love with them as everyone else is.  Most people I have heard that use them say that they will never go back to regular face wash.  I, however had the opposite reaction- I wanted to go back to my face wash immediately.  I gave it as long as I could and tried different brands.  Some were better than others, but overall I just wanted my good ol’ face wash back!

Garnier Blue cap vs. red cap– I first tried the blue cap, which is the all-in-one makeup removing micellar water and I hated it.  My skin felt extremely greasy and it didn’t remove all of my makeup afterwards.  It says no rinse, but I felt like I needed to rinse my face off right away after using it.  After talking with people about it, they said to give the red cap a try.  I did, and I had the same thoughts as the blue cap.  I gave the red cap one a try for about a week before I couldn’t do it anymore…

Simple Micellar Water– I tried the Simple Micellar Cleansing Cloths in place of my target brand face wipes, and my skin hated them.  I feel like it dried my skin out and didn’t get as much makeup off as my target ones.  I decided to still try out the Simple Micellar water since I heard such great things, but still didn’t love it.  I definitely liked it better than the Garnier brand, however I still had a bit of a greasy feeling on my face.  I wish I could love these as much as most people do, but it just didn’t happen.

Serum:

Michael Todd Antioxidant Carrot Multivitamin Serum– this stuff is amazing! I haven’t tried too many serums in my lifetime, but I know this has been helping my skin since the beginning.  Highly recommended!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these and what your thoughts are.

Up next in part 3… Face creams, oils and microderm scrubs
