It’s the start of quarantine week 3 for me. How are you all doing?! Are you staying sane? I shared an Instagram post with a few tips on how to stay sane while working from home, and wanted to do a full blog post on it with a few more tips I’ve learned along the way.
- Stick with your Normal Routine
Obviously there are a lot of things that won’t be normal, but keep it as close as you can. Try to get up at the same time each week day. If you listen to the radio or the news, do that. I like to get my news from the Up First podcast each weekday. It gives you a quick synopsis of the news in about 10-15 min. If you make coffee and take your dogs on a walk before work, continue to do so. Keep on track as much as you can. It will make it easier to get back into the swing of things when everything gets back to normal. - Get Ready for the Day
This goes along with number one. You don’t have to fully get ready, but get out of the clothes you slept in, grab a shower (if you’re a morning shower person), and put a little makeup on. Even if you want to wear comfies all day, that’s okay. Getting ready will help you be less likely to want to sit on the couch and be lazy. {If you missed my post on my Loungewear Favs – see it here- there are tons of cute options for you to be cozy, yet cute while working from home.} - Change Up Your Workspace
A lot of tips I’ve read say to pick a dedicated work space. I think it’s great to have a main workspace, but it’s okay to change it up once in a while. I have my workspace set up in my dining room right now. I spend too much time in my home office as it is, so I wanted a change of scenery. When it’s nice out, I sit on my patio and work. Changing up the workspace scenery has helped me so much! It gets me inspired and keeps my mind focused. - Create Rules with Your Housemates
If you work at home around others, make sure you make some ground rules with them. You don’t want them invading your space and causing a distraction while you’re working. Know each other’s schedules and communicate with each other. - Blast Your FAV Music or Listen to a Podcast/Audiobook! 🎶

Another way to change up the scenery! Get out of the house. Take a walk- even if it’s a short one, walk your dogs, go for a run! Try an at-home workout to get your blood pumping. I like to use the Nike Training Club app, but a ton of people are doing free workouts too! Any breaks throughout your day are necessary. - Facetime/Zoom/Facebook Chat with family and friends
Have a lunch date, or take a break and say hi to friends and family. Or make it a post-work VIRTUAL happy hour. Stay connected with friends and family as much as you can. - It’s OKAY to be less productive.
Lastly, I want to remind you all that it’s okay to feel down and less productive. You ARE NOT just working from home, you are working from home during a pandemic, during a crisis. It’s okay to feel anxious.
