Happy Sunday friends!! I’m back with another Home Renovation Series post! This one is all about my Beauty Room! If you remember from our master bedroom reno post, my beauty room is technically the larger bedroom in the house, but since it’s so long and skinny, we chose a different room to be our “master bedroom”. My beauty room was technically a “cloffice” (closet-office) before our most recent update. As you can see in the before photos/video, it was a hot mess and so unorganized and cramped so I knew once we replaced the flooring, we would be able to figure out a better way to lay out the room.

Back to the Beginning
Going back to when we first moved in, this room wasn’t the worst of them when it came to carpet, paint and trim, but we still knew it would be updated eventually. When we purchased the home, one of the walls was a navy blue. We changed it out to the Behr Wheat Bread color we have in most of the house and the rest of the room was eventually painted to the Behr Swiss Coffee color. The baseboards in this room were white, but old and the window trim and closet trim and doors were the awful orangey oak color that we’ve repainted and/or replaced throughout the house.
We eventually took off those closet doors and added curtains as an easy temporary fix for removing some of the orange tones in this room.
2020: Replacing the Flooring
After finishing replacing the flooring in our bedroom, this room was next on the list. It had the most amount of stuff in the room, so we waited as long as we could for this one. We finally started it just before the new year, back in December 2020. Everything was removed from the room and the carpeting and baseboards were torn out. My husband replaced the flooring with the same LVP we put in the rest of the house and new PVC baseboard trim (also the same as the rest of the house). For the closet and window trim, I painted that white to match the rest of the trim in the house. The flooring turned out amazing in this room and really gave it a whole new look.
After the flooring/trim/paint was done, it was time to put the room back together. I played around with an app called “Room Planner” – it’s basically IKEA’s app to lay out rooms, but it helped give me a general idea of how to best lay out this room so it was more functional. At the time of redoing the room, my plan was to turn the room strictly into a beauty room and move the office portion to our guest room. It worked well at the time, but now that we are expecting our first baby in August, we may have to make some sort of office corner in this room again. Still working that out! 😉
One thing that will for change in this room is the light fixture. I want to move the chandelier from our bedroom to this room and update the one in the master – mainly because the chandelier is much for fitting in this room than our bedroom.
I love the way the beauty room turned out with all of the shelving on one side, the dresser on the other, and having my vanity and floor length mirror closer to the window for more natural light. I still have issues with not enough light coming in, but it works for now.
Of all the rooms we did, Conor said this one was the easiest because it wasn’t much labor as far as cutting flooring or doing any crazy accent walls. This one was probably completed the fastest of all of them too, but mainly because we wanted to get all of that furniture out of our living room and back in the room as soon as possible. 😉
