Growing up in Iowa, Hy-Vee was my family’s go-to grocery store! I loved Hy-Vee and everything about it. If you are familiar with Hy-Vee, you know how good their chinese food is.. that was always my favorite!
After living in Wisconsin for a while now, they finally got a Hy-Vee a few years ago and I couldn’t have been more thrilled! It was just like the one I grew up with, only bigger and better. The Madison area now has 3 Hy-Vee stores! Score!
When I first heard of Hy-Vee Aisles Online about a year ago, I was so excited to try it. Spend over $100 and delivery OR pickup is FREE! Even if you do not spend over $100, the fee is very minimal. Living on the outskirts of Madison, they will not deliver out there, but being able to pick up groceries on my way home from work that are ready to go sounded so easy, convenient and just amazing!
The first time I tried Hy-Vee Aisles Online, it was still relatively new. I ordered online and they sent me an email about 1 hr before pick up that my food was ready to go, and I just have to call when I pull into the designated pick-up spot. I arrived and called right away. They came out in about 10-15 min or so and with the amount of food I got, it saved me so much time!
Fast forward to my most recent visit that did not go so well…
My most recent order was the 4th time I have used Hy-Vee Aisles Online, and as much as I love the idea of it, it just keeps disappointing me. I am not a picky person, and have worked in customer service for many years. After making 2 calls to the store and waiting 20-30 minutes last time (the 3rd time I ordered online), I waited a while to order again because I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed that this is a new thing and they were still working on it.
This most recent order, I arrived at about 5:25pm, and called as I was pulling up. They said someone would be right out. After waiting 25 minutes, and seeing several families go in and out with all of their groceries, I called and they said someone will be right out. About 15 minutes later, I saw the person coming out, but the totes tipped over and food spilled on the ground, so they had to go in and exchange it. About 5-10 min later, she came out again and delivered the food. The employee was very friendly and sweet, and there were no issues with her, I am just disappointed at the whole process. I ended up leaving the Hy-Vee parking lot around 6:10pm, making my time spent there about 45 minutes. I could’ve been in and out in 15 minutes with the amount of food I purchased. On top of all of that, I got home and did not find one of the items I was charged for in my bags. I checked all over in my car to make sure it didn’t fall out of the bag. When I did not find it, I called and asked that it be refunded to my card. The person I spoke with said she would leave a note with her manager since he was out of town and they would be able to credit my account for next time. I would prefer it just be reimbursed since I will not be ordering anytime soon, but I would talk to the manager when they called later that week. It has now been a week since I ordered and I have not heard from anyone, so I will be calling today to talk about the credit or reimbursement.
This is supposed to be an easy, convenient way to pick up groceries, and for me, it has not been.
Now, for some of my friends that have done pick up and delivery, they seem to have no problems, with the exception of a few issues when Hy-Vee Aisles Online first started.
I am hoping to give them a try again in the future, but I swear I must be jinxed or something… I love the idea of this and hope to have better luck next time. :/
