Trying FALL LIP COLORS | Swatches & Review

Hi friends!! I recently shared a video over on my YouTube channel showcasing some fun fall lip colors. I have been loving the darker, moodier lips for fall this year and swatched a ton, as well as tried my favs on the lips! From everyday colors to bold plum colors, I’ve got you covered on the fall lip colors. These would all be perfect to transition into winter as well.

I pulled out some oldies, but some goodies, plus a couple new lip colors and swatched them, as well as tried my favs on the lips. Below you’ll find the video showing tons of options, but in this post, I’m showing the ones I tried on my lips. I have them separated into categories below.

Quick Tips for Trying out BOLD LIP COLORS

• Try them on at night before you take off your makeup – a lot of people think they won’t look good with bold colors, but it’s most likely because you’ve never tried it. 
• Start with a semi-bold color and work your way up. I.e. don’t start with a deep plum, try a dark mauve, then move to dark plum.
• Practice lining your lips with a lip liner, or if you mess up and go out of the lines, use a makeup brush and concealer to clean up the lines. I have a YouTube tutorial and blog post on overlining lips that will help!
• If you don’t like it, return it. I think a lot of people’s hesitation for trying new makeup is that you spend a lot of money and may not like it. The good thing is, if it’s from ULTA or Sephora, you can always return it if you don’t like it.

Fall Lip Colors

Everyday Fall Colors:

First up are my go-to fall lip colors. Stila Firenze, shown on the right was my everyday fall lip color last year, and I’ve still worn it quite a bit this year. On the left is a new one this year, KVD Lolita II. It’s the perfect orangey color for fall! It reminds me of the changing of the trees! Lolita II doesn’t last quite as long as the Stila lip color, but they’re still both great!

Fall Red Lipsticks:

I love a good red lip year round, but especially in the fall and winter time. They scream holiday to me and I love it! On the left, we have Stila Fiery, a slightly deep red with a tint of blue undertone to make your teeth look pearly white. On the right we have Stila Rubino. The perfect deep red/merlot color. These Stila liquid lipsticks don’t budge and last all day!

Brown & Plum:

Both of these shades are new to me this year and I love them both! I like a good darker brown and plum shade, but sometimes they can wash you out or make you look sick. These have a slightly warmer undertone and are perfect for fall. On the left we have KVD Plath – a deeper orangey-brown. On the right, we have OFRA Havana Nights– more of a warmer plum shade. Both of these lipstick formulas are going to stay all day, OFRA lasting a little bit longer than the KVD lipstick.
